Project Blog for ScubaMap
Google Ads have been added to second level pages to help pay for hosting expenses.
A new feature was recently added that lists dive sites by country:
ScubaMap was moved to a new hosting provider. Please let me know if you encounter any issues.
A significant number of dive sites were recently added. New countries include Brazil, Guadalupe, Japan and others.
After visitors modify a site they are taken back to the display section of their location. Unfortunately, this had not been properly integrated into the new paging mechanism so although the site was being displayed, the map locations themselves were only from the first set. This has now been corrected.
A new paging mechanism has been added to ScubaMap. This new code breaks up the results from the database into multiple sets so that the application can handle a much higher number of dive sites. The number per set is determined by visitors with a drop down box.
Nice little write-up of the application on this popular blog about mashups.
Direct quote- “This is an awesome Google Maps mashup!”

ScubaMAP now supports Google Earth via KML output. This page has directions, but basically all one has to do is download the free Google Earth program, and then enter http://www.scubamap.net/map/scubakml.php as a network link under the Add menu. Simply click on any of the dive sites to zoom into the location. This list will be automatically updated with new information every time the application is opened.
It is now possible for users to zoom into a particular country on the map by selecting one from a drop down list.
